Indian Owned Company Plans 5, 000 Jobs In Agriculture In Osun State -  P.M.EXPRESS

The Osun State Government has disclosed plans to give out 23 hectares of land in Ifon to interested farmers for planting of tomatoes.

The state Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Adedayo Adewole, made the disclosure during an inspection tour to some of the ploughed land along Araromi/Orile-Owu Road, Araromi-Oke-Odo, in the Ife South Local Government Area of the state.

A statement by Adewole on Sunday, also said out of 1,000 hectares of land set aside for the agricultural production, 400 hectares had been ploughed for the plantation of cocoa, cassava and other agriculture produce.

It further revealed that the ploughed land in the Ife South LGA and Ifon-Osun, in Orolu LGA of the state would be allocated to over 200 farmers.

“We are doing this to reawaken productivity in agriculture as part of efforts to empower our youths and create more employment opportunities for them in the agricultural sector. Aside from 1,000 hectares of land that we are working on in Ife, we have equally cleared 23 hectares in Ifon Orolu for tomato production,” the statement added.
