Mbappe VS Neymar: PSG Take Decision Amid Rising Tensions Between Teammates
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have reportedly called a crisis meeting amid rising tensions between their forwards, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
French sports daily L’Equipe reports that PSG will have a discussion with Mbappe and Neymar ‘very soon’ to enable both players to move on from the latest saga in their decaying relationship.
Reports had earlier suggested that Mbappe requested for Neymar to be moved on this summer.
However, their relationship has soured in recent times, more so since Lionel Messi’s arrival at PSG last summer.
The fruitful friendship once enjoyed between the duo has now been reserved for Neymar and Messi, leaving Mbappe out in the cold.
Tensions rose again on Saturday when Neymar ‘liked’ a series of tweets suggesting Mbappe’s penalty-taking duties were a part of his contractual rights.
The Brazil international is widely regarded as the club’s best penalty taker, but Mbappe was given the task of stepping up from the spot to fire PSG ahead in Saturday’s 5-2 French Ligue 1 win over Montpellier but saw his spot kick saved.
The Parisians were awarded a second penalty shortly afterward, from which Neymar converted in front of the watchful France international.
