HRM Florence Okonkwo @50: Queen of Red Carpet, Accomplished Actress, Producer and Entrepreneur

The success story behind the multiple award –winning international actress, movie producer and entrepreneur, Her Royal Majesty, Florence Okonkwo did not come on a platter.

Her story if properly scripted would make an Oscar nomination. Fondly called Queen of the Red Carpet because of her glamorous outfits, Okonkwo has early in life resolved to make a difference in whatever life throws at her. Haven experienced the sad loss of two of her siblings to the deadly sickle cell disease, she decided at a tender age to do all within her means to reduce the terminal scourge from society. And her efforts in this regard over the years have attracted various recognitions, among which is an award recognition from the Deputy Mayor of Southwark, Counsellor Lorraine Lauder and Carol Nwosu, founder of ‘Sickle Cell and Young Stroke Survivor’ in the UK.

She is now the proud founder of ‘MMO Foundation,’ a charity organisation, established to help vulnerable and grassroots people in Africa. It was set up in 2018.

She began to explore the competitive and highly challenging movie industry where she played leading roles in blockbuster movies and acted as Producer /Actress in some others, including, but not limited to For the love of money, Heartless Carer; Broken Cross; Oga Detective; Return of the Don; Love Conquer; Golden Love; lesson number one; Speak up;Top Range. Also, some of the films she served as the Executive Producer/Producer are; This is not about You, The Passion and Temptation of Queen Cleopatra, Shot in the Dark, Royal Obsession, It happened to Me among others.

Interestingly, NOIRETV which discovered Okonkwo through her movie; Shot in the Dark had an interview with her and promised to support her 3D online magazine,
Her 2019 movie premiered in London, This is not about You featured Hollywood and British Stars like Winston George Ellis, Adam Richards, Lucien Morgan, Uche Odoeputa among others as they made it to the top of the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF 2019) Canada with an award trophy to be proud of.

Accordingly, she has received an intimidating number of awards spread across four (4) continents. These include Hollywood – Africa Prestigious Award best actress 2018; BEFFTA  best Producer 2018 and Film Producer 2014; ZAFAA Recognition award 2018; MAFAA Ambassador for Peace a 2018; EPRA Leadership and Entrepreneurial Awards 2017; MBGA (The Most Beautiful Girl in Abuja) UK; the official Hollywood and African Prestigious awards; Global hidden treasures award; Cameroon film & movie Academy Award; Podium recognition 2016; LA NUIT DES OSCAR UK special Diaspora prize; Queen of Red Carpet Award 2016; BEFFTA Community Champion 2016; Queen of Nollywood Award 2016 in Germany; The Nelas Academy Celebrity of the year 2019 in Abuja and The Nelas Academy UK Producer of year 2020. In addition to her many credentials, she is also into artiste management, as she has organised and brought in an artiste to the UK to perform. She is a consultant to some charity organisations as well as organising events and award ceremonies which covers business, community development and leadership. Okonkwo is the author of fast-selling book; The Woman Celine Ajah –Smith. As she celebrates her 50th birthday, a lot of the best wishes have been pouring in from all over the world, but it is note-worthy to mention the salutations of her adorable sons; Don Mark Okonkwo and fast-rising and award-winning actor, Ambassador Malachi Okonkwo.

Malachi Okonkwo is an actor and a student who was nominated for Best Child Actor Hapa 2018 Hollywood USA and has featured on six movies namely; Shameful Deceit (2013); The Soul (2013); For the Love of Money (2014); Love Conquers (2016); Golden Love (2016) and Top Range (2017).
