FG moves to activate fire detection platform
Federal Fire Service, (FFS), has said that it will introduce a digital fire detection platform to reduce response time and boost efficiency.
Controller General, FFS, Engineer Abdulganiyu Jaji, made this known in a communiqué, weekend in Abuja.
He said the agency in partnership with Hoist Life Safety Systems Limited (Holisys), a private fire safety firm, will be carrying out the project and has already embark on one week digital fire detection training of firemen to enable them to promptly combat fire outbreaks.
The communiqué signed by the Public Relations Officer, (PRO), of the service, Abraham Paul, indicates that the training commenced with the FFS Zonal Command headquarters, Lagos state and aims to cover all zonal commands across the nation.
Jaji said the digital innovation, to be unveiled soon, “will improve response time thereby reducing loss of lives and property to the barest minimum, saving households and the nation from economic loss.”
Engr Jaji urged the public to remain conscious to avoid fire disasters especially with the onset of the harmattan and yuletide season which is characterized by incessant fire outbreaks due to cooking, and the use of fireworks during festivals.
