Eubank Jr's coach accused of having a gun in his luggage at the airport

The trainer of Chris Eubank Jr has been charged with possessing a firearm while preparing to board a flight at Manchester Airport. Brian McIntyre appeared at Stockport Magistrates’ Court on Monday after the gun was allegedly found in checked luggage, Manchester Police said.

The man, 53, was remanded in custody and will next appear at Manchester Court on October 9. McIntyre had been in the UK for Eubank Jr’s fight against Liam Smith. The British fighter hired McIntyre as his new trainer, along with other changes to his training regimen for the competition. Manchester Police reported that “Brian McIntyre, from the United States, was charged with possession of a firearm and possession of firearm ammunition without a certificate.”

McIntyre is considered one of the best boxing trainers in the world and is known for guiding Terence Crawford to success. Crawford, undefeated in 40 professional fights, became the first undisputed two-weight world champion in the four-belt era when he defeated Errol Spence Jr in July.
