Abiodun commends The Collectives Club on free medical outreach for 5,000 Ogun residents
Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has commended the health initiative organised by The Collectives Club, a Remo-based not-for-profit-social club, which will benefit about 5, 000 residents of the state.
The governor of the state who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Kayode Oladehinde, called for more support in the health sector noting that government cannot do it alone.
In his words, the Permanent Secretary stated that “health is wealth and the Ogun State Government has invested immensely in the past few years in all levels of our health sector: tertiary, secondary, especially primary health, but no matter what the state government does, we will still need people, good people of Ogun State like The Collectives Club members to assist government” adding that “health, social welfare, infrastructural development and human resources must all go hand in hand”.
Dr. Oladehinde said, “we all know that a healthy people are wealthy people and this is why the state government really appreciates this initiative”. According to him, “whether we like it or not, it is not only our health that The Collectives Club is contributing to but also the well-being of the state”.
In his testimony, the Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun throught the Permanent Secretary in the state’s Ministry of Health noted that “in the past few years, this club has taken it upon itself to help the government by running this medical outreach which has been expanding on a yearly basis and impacting positively on the health system of Ogun State”.
No fewer than 5,000 residents across Ogun State will benefit from a free mass health outreach, organised by “The Collectives Club” in fulfilment of its Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR.
The free health care scheme which will last for one week, will cover blood tests, blood pressure tests, free medical consultation, dental checks, malaria tests, PSA tests, diabetes tests, eye tests, free drug distribution, free reading glasses and free cataract surgeries.
Also speaking to newsmen after the flag off of the free health care outreach in conjunction with the state’s owned Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, OOUTH, Sagamu, the President of The Collectives Club, Remo, Engineer Wole Ogunsanya stated that the club organised the free medical service based on the love it has for their people.
According to Engineer Wole Ogunsanya, the medical exercise attracted over 3,000 patients last year and this year the projection is 5,000 beneficiaries.
The club’s president, who revealed that The Collectives Club members contributed over 10 million Naira for the project, also appreciated the state Governor for investing in the health sector of the state, noting that the governor’s continued support for the club’s health initiative motivated the club to embark on the project.
